LXR modifies buildings to aid local turtles

LXR Luxury Resorts has modified the private peninsula on which its One Thousand Ocean condominium is located to preserve the sea turtle nesting beach on the site. LXR hired Coral Gables-based Coastal Systems International, a consulting firm, to address environmental issues in the area, according to a press release. One Thousand Ocean’s lighting has been modified to make it turtle-friendly. So as not to misdirect the turtles away from the ocean, the lighting will be filtered so that only 45 percent of the building’s interior light will make its way outside. The building is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
