Related wins lawsuit appeal

The Second District Court of Appeal in Lakeland said Miami-based developer Related Companies acted properly in a 2003 Collier County land sale. A unanimous vote by a three-judge panel said that Related and affiliate TRG Nighthawk did not mislead Registry Development when Related sold the Naples company about 55 acres zoned for multifamily residential use for nearly $4.4 million. Registry discovered that a drainage easement would limit the number of units that could be built, and in May 2008 won a suit that awarded it $200,000 plus interest. The appeals court ruling reversed that decision.
