Palm casts for Bass Pro Shop

West Palm Beach is trying to lure fishing equipment and sporting goods chain Bass Pro Shops to locate in the area, and backers suggest it could attract as many as 3 million visitors a year. Kelly Smallridge, president of the Business Development Board, Palm Beach County’s business recruitment arm, said the area fits the retailer’s demographics. The store could be put on a built-up section of lakefront at the southeast corner of Okeechobee Boulevard and Interstate 95 in West Palm Beach. The lake, known as the southern lobe of Clear Lake, would have its northeastern quadrant filled in so the Bass Pro store would actually jut into the lake.
