Maritza Valiente, 41, of Miami-Dade County, former owner of a mortgage company, received a five-year prison sentence for tax fraud. She was also ordered to repay $118,091 to victims of the scam she and others allegedly committed in 1999 and 2000. Valiente and her co-conspirators created and filed more than 30 false tax returns claiming wages in the names of phony employees of her company, United Mortgage Financing, netting $100,000 in bogus tax returns.
