Empty towers a monument to greed

Independent filmmaker Joe Cardona said that Miami’s quest to reinvent itself has led to a cycle of overdevelopment that will leave the city weaker, emptier, and overbuilt. Glitz and glamour on the surface overwhelmed common sense and economics, he argued, and Miamians are now worse off for it: impoverished and even more distant from the political process that allowed it to happen.
