Tax rebate horizon looms

The $8,000 first-time homebuyer tax credit expires Nov. 30, and South Floridians are trying to get in under the wire. Realtor Shannon Brink of ReMax Prestige Realty in downtown West Palm Beach, is telling clients that home contracts must be signed by next week to execute a closing by Nov. 30, and said her inventory of lower-priced homes, many of them in foreclosure, is dwindling as many buyers attempt to take advantage of the program. About 105,608 Floridians are among the 1.42 million buyers who had taken advantage of the credit as of the end of August. [Palm Beach Post]
