Coconut rally for Lantana post office

Opponents of a plan to close the Lantana post office, one of three Palm Beach offices slated to be shut under a wave of government cutbacks, have gone nuts in protest. They’ve sent hundred of coconuts, containing messages asking Postmaster General John Potter to reconsider the decision, marked with proper $4 postage, to his office on L’Enfant Plaza in Washington, D.C. The Postal Service has slated 371 offices for closing, but that could drop to 200. Other opponents are using conventional petitions as well. [Sun-Sentinel]
