The Brickell district is full of empty offices and yet Baptist Health South Florida can’t seem to find 6,000 square feet for an urgent care clinic. Ana Lopez-Blazquez, chief strategic officer and CEO of Baptist Health Enterprises, said the hospital is also looking for 12,000 square feet for a medical facility and diagnostics center. Lopez-Blazquez said that although the area’s vacancy rate for class A and B office space is a whopping 16 percent, a hospital needs more parking, higher visibility and easy accessibility. Brokerage Jones Lang LaSalle reported that there’s 827,000 square feet of empty office space and an additional 1.8 million square feet now under construction. [Miami Today News]
