Worth Avenue facelift needs more time

A planned renovation of Worth Avenue, Palm Beach’s posh shopping street, will take longer than originally expected, said Harvey Oyer, an attorney representing the Worth Avenue Restoration Association. The project’s complexity means that with a projected start date by mid-April, work won’t be completed until early November. He said the “aggressive” schedule compresses two years of work into a matter of months, may require work on weekends and longer hours. Burkhardt Construction of West Palm Beach will handle the project, which calls for a renovation of the three blocks from South Ocean Boulevard to Coconut Row, the construction of a clock tower and a new piazza in the center of Hibiscus Avenue near the intersection of Worth Avenue.
