U.S. drywall manufacturer targeted in lawsuit

January 14, 2010 02:31PM

National Gypsum, a U.S. drywall maker, has bit hit with a lawsuit by two Lee County couples seeking class action status in federal litigation surrounding tainted, sulfurous drywall. While most of the raft of lawsuits concerning the issue focus on paneling made in China, George and Brenda Brincku and Lydia and Apolinar Garcia say the domestic-made drywall from the Charlotte, N.C.-based company ravaged the fixtures and metal pieces of their homes. Miami-based Banner Supply, a distributer, is also targeted in the suit. National Gypsum has contested the claims, and said publicly it is not part of the problems associated with Chinese-made drywall. [SFBJ]
