Miami Beach Convention Center expansion plan revealed

Architectural firm Arquitectonica unveiled a plan last week for a
vastly expanded Miami Beach Convention Center. The proposed center
would have 50 percent more exhibition space, a connection to Lincoln
Road, and a direct path to South Beach hotels. The plan calls for the
center to occupy its own 243,000-square-foot parking lot, located
across Convention Center Drive from the current building. The latest vision for the center, last overhauled in 1989, would include about
750,000 square feet of exhibition space, a 60,000-square-foot multi-use
ballroom and a 1,000-room luxury hotel. A master plan for the site is
due by Aug. 3. [Miami Today]
