Hotel tax receipts up in Miam-Dade, down in Broward

Hotel tax collections rose 9 percent in January for the first increase since August 2008, while Broward County hotel taxes dropped by another 2 percent, according to the latest data from both counties. Last month’s Super Bowl is expected to cause another rise in tax collections when February data is reported next month. In Miami-Dade, hotel taxes will fund about $10 million in annual bond payments for the new Florida Marlins stadium.
