South Beach residents call for police to clean up streets

Vacation crowds have left South Beach with loud music, increased litter
and a rash of complaints, locals say. South Beach residents have called for a step
up in policing to get the area under control. Residents like Frank Del
Vecchio have called for more cops to reduce public drinking on the
beach, and others say there is too much loud music even at early
morning hours. But not all the perpetrators are tourists, they say. The
call for increased enforcement also stems from a double-stabbing
incident in the South of Fifth neighborhood at the corner of Ocean
Drive and South Pointe Drive. [Miami Herald]
