Palm Beach could lose planned inland port

Palm Beach County is in danger of losing a proposed ‘inland port’ to St.
Lucie County as concerns increase about the port’s effect on the
Everglades. The port is part of a deal between The Port of Palm Beach
and sugar company Florida Crystals that would construct an “inland
distribution center.” Environmental groups say the location, west of
U.S. 27 in the western part of Palm Beach County, would hinder attempts
for renewed water flows to the Everglades. There are also concerns about
strains on infrastructure. [Sun
