Controversial Jupiter synagogue plan back on the table, unchanged

The Chabad officials planning to build a new, 26,000-square-foot synagogue in Alabacoa are refusing to cave to requests from town council members to downsize the project. Council members had previously objected that the two-story building would not fit in with the residential Jupiter neighborhood and would bring too much traffic to the area. The council is planning to continue its discussion tonight, but Chabad officials have not altered their original proposal, arguing that “there’s no way we can reduce the size and fulfill our mission,” according to Rabbi Berel Barash.
