Homestead offers grants to spruce up homes

Homestead Mayor Steve Bateman

Homestead’s Community Redevelopment Agency has unveiled several new
programs intended to provide a boost to residents and businesses in
hard-hit areas. The agency has set aside funds for several initiatives,
including $150,000 for fixing up residential facades, and offering up
to $10,000 to low and moderate-income homeowners for exterior work like
painting and door replacement. The grants also include some for
landscaping, giving up to $5,000 to buy plants, trees and gardening
equipment. Renters and leasers are also eligible to apply with the
property owners’ approval. [Miami Herald]
