The Florida Atlantic University board of trustees unanimously approved a plan to seek $44.6 million in financing for what will be the largest sports venue in Palm Beach County. The
30,000-seat stadium, to be located on FAU’s Boca Raton campus, still needs support from the State University System
of Florida’s Board of Governors. If approved, the stadium is slated for completion by the fall of 2011. FAU expects to secure the loan from
Regions Bank and apply for acceptance as a Build America Bond, for which
the federal government pays 35 percent of the interest payments. [SFBJ]
