Floridians are increasingly deciding to stay home for their vacations

and special events, on so-called “stay-cations.” When the Robb family
wanted to celebrate their 10th anniversary, instead of heading out of
state or to another country, they remembered the suite they had enjoyed
at the Atlantic Hotel in Fort Lauderdale on a business trip. So the Port
St. Lucie couple chose the Atlantic for a three-night stay, a decision
more Floridians are choosing to make in the downturn. A number of
Florida hotels are offering state resident rates, like the Atlantic,
which offers rooms for $169 per night to Florida residents. The Lago Mar
in Fort Lauderdale is doing the same, along with the Crowne Plaza
Hollywood Beach resort. [Sun
