The Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables
Bal Harbour, Coral Gables, Downtown Miami, the Design District and
Hollywood are trying to change a perception that South Beach is the only
place for tourists to head in Miami. The neighborhoods are launching
aggressive ad campaigns to play up their own qualities, pitching
themselves as the “fill-in-the-blank” alternative to South Beach.
Downtown Miami says it’s an up-and-coming urban alternative, and Coral
Gables touts its sophisticated aura, with historic properties like the
Biltmore and the Venetian Pool. Hollywood talks of its beaches and a
highly-praised boardwalk. [Miami
