Palm Beach County failed in its pitch to have Google build a massive
data center in the county, but it has pipelines full of technology
prospects, according to Kelly Smallridge, president of the county’s
Business Development Board. Smallridge said a German firm is interested
in building a 500,000-square-foot distribution center in the central
part of the county, along with Garda World Security Services, which won
approval for an incentive package to bring a regional headquarters to
Boca Raton. Smallridge, who spoke at a Leadership Business Council event
in West Palm Beach, said she expected Gov. Scott to take a role in
recruiting companies to Florida. [Palm
