SF man sentenced for mortgage fraud

A Parkland man was sentenced to a little more than three years in prison and ordered to pay more than $2.3 million in restitution for his role in a multimillion-dollar mortgage fraud scheme, the South Florida Business Journal reported. Anson Joachin, 39, who was arrested in Atlanta in May, is alleged to have orchestrated a scheme in which he and four others purchased properties in Broward, Palm Beach and Lee counties by submitting false loan applications to lenders who in turn issued mortgages for $2.35 million. The other defendants previously sentenced for their roles are John Fisher, 35, of Jupiter, a licensed mortgage broker; Tracey Balli, 35, of Pembroke Pines, a loan processor; Justina Bryan, 35, of Hollywood, a loan processor; and Delano McLennon, 33, of North Lauderdale, a straw buyer. A release from the Florida Office of Financial Regulation in June said the men were among 86 South Florida residents charged in Operation Stolen Dreams, a $76 million mortgage fraud operation.
