Broward County’s tourism rebounds

Broward County’s tourism industry rebounded in 2010, led by a wave of
Brazilian tourists, who form the second-largest source of visitors in
the county, according to the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and
Visitors Bureau. There were 10.84 million total visitors last year, a
jump of 2.6 percent. Tourists spent $8.69 billion in the county last
year. This year, 11 million visitors are expected. “Given the realities
of the economy over the past year, these are very impressive figures,”
said Nicki Grossman, the president of the Convention and Visitors
Bureau. “Fort Lauderdale’s tourism industry is reaping the rewards of
hard work and creative marketing over the past few months.” [SFBJ]
