Preserve Palm Beach revises referendum

Preserve Palm Beach, a group seeking a town referendum that
would require voter approval before landmarked public buildings could be
demolished, has made what it calls a “peace offering” to the town in
the form of a revised referendum. The group and the town have been
locked in a legal battle for months, as the town has charged that the
proposed referendum is unconstitutional, on the grounds that state law
bans referenda on properties below a particular size. [Palm
