Tomas Seijos rented a home in Miami-Dade County from someone he believed was a realtor. “I was trusting,” he said. “Yes, he had on a shirt, a tie, a suit. A clean cut, good looking fella.” But the realtor wasn’t a real one, and the home he rented was actually in foreclosure. It is a scam becoming more and more frequent in Miami-Dade and Broward counties– schemers look for foreclosed homes, change the locks then pretend to be owner’s representatives, as seen in the video above. “These criminals are finding and scouting these foreclosed properties and then running scams out of the rentals of these properties,” said Det. Chris Hodges of the Miami-Dade Police. [NBC Miami]
