Pompano townhomes return confidence

Builder SobelCo’s Barefoot Beach Villas project in Pompano Beach is
another example of builders beginning to bet again on South Florida’s
housing market. The 2-acre parcel, which features 34 units on the A1A
side of Atlantic Boulevard, signed 11 contracts at a nighttime sales
party last week. “There are buyers,” said Tirso San Jose, vice president
of development at SobelCo, which purchased the land for the project a
year ago from the lender for $2 million. “There are definitely buyers.”
Broker Jack Halkowich said he thought the project was going to sell out
