Miami-Dade Commission approves Kendall airport shopping

The Miami-Dade Commission approved a zoning ordinance yesterday that allows for the development of Aviation Square, a proposed $40 million shopping center at Kendall-Tamiami Executive Airport, the Miami Herald reported.
The project would include 300,000 square feet of retail at the main entrance of the Kendall airport, at Southwest 137th Avenue and 128th Street.
If the shopping center goes ahead, the developer, WMD Tamiami, an affiliate of Boca Raton-based Woolbright Development, would pay $2.6 million per year to rent almost 44 acres of airport land. It also would pay the airport a share of the revenue from the retail stores. [Miami Herald]
