Swerdlow prepares second-round bid for Biscayne Landing site

Developer Michael Swerdlow is preparing to submit a second-round bid next month to North Miami to develop a set of condo towers and retail at a 184-acre Biscayne Landing site, the Wall Street Journal reported. Swerdlow was one of two developers, along with New York’s Bruce Eichner, to submit a bid earlier this summer.
Swerdlow has a complicated relationship with the site, after winning the rights from the city to develop it almost a decade ago. He cashed out at the market’s peak in 2006, selling his interest to his partners, who then defaulted on the project. Losses were said to top $200 million. [WSJ, 3rd item]
