FAU’s new stadium receives $2M donation

Florida Atlantic University has been gifted $2 million to use for the construction of its new campus stadium in Boca Raton. The donors, Richard and Barbara Schmidt and their family foundation, will get a permanent sign on the football scoreboard to recognize the contribution. The $70 million stadium broke ground in October 2010 and will seat 30,000 people when it debuts this coming Oct. 15. Richard Schmidt is the head of real estate and aviation firm Schmidt Cos. [SFBJ]
