It was a good spring to be a real estate professional in Florida. According to the Miami Herald, real estate professionals earned 1.2 percent more than they did at the start of 2011, good for the fourth best gain in the nation. It was Florida’s best placement in pay increases among the 12 industries measured. Only Texas (2 percent), New York and Oklahoma (1.5 percent each), fared better.
However, Florida’s gain comes on the heels of a 1.1 percent decline in real estate pay during the first quarter of 2011. This quarter, real estate professionals’ incomes fell only in New Jersey, Nevada, Alaska and Colorado.
Florida construction workers also fared relatively well in the second quarter, as their pay increased by 1.3 percent, tied for the 10th best compensation growth in the country for that category. North Dakota construction workers enjoyed the best quarter, seeing their pay rise 4.9 percent.
Among all professions, Florida workers earned 1.3 percent more than they did at the outset of the year, tied for the 18th best gain in the country. Nebraska and South Dakota were tops with 2.5 percent gains each. [Miami Herald]
