Florida AG opposes more casinos

Mega casinos in Florida would take the state “in a fundamentally wrong
direction,” Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi said in a statement
today. “We need less gambling in Florida, not more,” she said. Bondi
said that part of the reason the state gave exclusive gaming rights to
the Seminoles was that it would be so successful as to remove the need
for expanded gaming.  “Yet here we are, only a short time later, being
asked to go along with yet another massive expansion,” she said. Bondi
focused on the potential for a casino in her hometown of Tampa, although
the legislation currently being discussed does only include the
tri-county area. [SFBJ]
