Supermarket Aldi has officially announced plans to build a $50 million distribution center in Royal Palm Beach, two months after being approved for a $1.7 million tax break over seven years, the Palm Beach Post reported.
Since the tax break was approved, the grocer purchased 70 acres flanked by Royal Palm Beach High School and Regal Royal Palm Beach Stadium 18 along State Road 7 for $14 million. Construction should be starting “in the near future,” according to Aldi. The offices and warehouse will employ about 90 people with health coverage and benefits.
The supermarket opened its first Palm Beach County location in Delray Beach in August, and aims to open 19 more in the county, and 60 to 70 in South Florida. [Palm Beach Post]
