The United Pentecostal Church in Sunrise has lost a foreclosure action
by TD Bank, although the online auction on the site won’t be until
March, the South Florida Business Journal reported. The bank won a $5.6
million judgment on the property, which is located at 7000 West Oakland
Park Boulevard. The church’s attorney, Tracy Long, said he planned an
appeal on the judgment, claiming that the foreclosure should not have
been allowed to go through because the bank had made a loan with “poor
underwriting.” He added: “I didn’t think they had a lot of sympathy for the church
and the congregation.” The church, a former synagogue, was
purchased in 2006. [SFBJ]
