Debate grows over new development on West Palm Beach waterfront

A plan that would add floating restaurants and a new amphitheater to West Palm Beach’s waterfront is encountering opposition from the Palm Beach Town Council. The council’s president, David Rosow, said it could turn into “Peanut Island south.” Rosow’s chief concern is the potential amount of noise generated by the plan. “We need to watch that we’re not being inundated by noise,” he said. Bill Diamond, a councilman, said something had to be done about the plan. But others like Rabbi Moshe Scheiner of the Palm Beach Synagogue, sounded a different tune. “Restaurants would be lovely,” he said. [Palm Beach Daily News]
