Church buys former Wilton Manors bank branch for $1.9 million in short sale

A former bank branch that was set for auction after being seized by SunTrust was purchased for $1.9 million in a short sale by the United Church of Christ of Fort Lauderdale, the South Florida Business Journal reported. The property, which is located at 1501 NE 26th Street in Wilton Manors, lost a $2.8 million judgment to SunTrust. It was formerly owned by Delray Beach-based developer New Urban Communities. It’s likely that the site will be converted into a church. [SFBJ]
