South Florida single-family home prices show decline: Case-Shiller report

Home prices in the tri-county area fell by 1.9 percent in January compared to the same period in 2011, according to data from the Standard & Poor’s/Case-Shiller home price index. The data comes in contrast to recent reports from Florida broker associations, which have shown significant price increases. Case-Shiller data does not include condominiums, however, which have been a significant driver of the residential market in South Florida, particularly in Miami-Dade County. Local Realtor board data reflects sales during each month, not the total value of all homes in the region. [Sun Sentinel]
