As Marlins Park prepares for action, garage retail remains silent

Hours from first pitch at Marlins Park, the 53,000 square feet of retail space at the garages outside the stadium remain empty. Though two leases have signed by and a third one is close, none of the forthcoming tenants have begun to build out their spaces or hold any expectations to be ready during the season’s opening month.

Miami Today reported that 100 Fires, a cigar shop that signed for 625 square feet, hoped to open in mid-May, and in the meantime will set up a tent near its storefront to sell cigars and accessories.

The other signed retailer, fast-casual restaurant Lime Fresh Mexican Grill, could only report that it expects to open sometime during the 2012 season.

Meanwhile, Latin Corner Sports Bar & Grill has signed a letter of intent for a 10-year lease for 3,000 square feet at $25 per foot, but it is not finalized yet. Once signed, it would have four months to open for business, according to terms currently being discussed.

Terranova has led the leasing efforts for the garage and is said to be seeking restuarants and lounges for the storefronts. [Miami Today]
