Broward title company president sentenced in two mortgage fraud schemes

The former president of a Broward County-based title and escrow company has been sentenced for her participation in two mortgage fraud schemes in Broward and Palm Beach counties, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida Wifredo Ferrer announced. Michelle Austin-Wilks was sentenced to 63 months in prison, to be followed by five years of supervised release. She also was ordered to pay $6.27 million in restitution to the victims of the fraud, for which she pled guilty to one count of  conspiracy to commit wire fraud and four counts actual wire fraud. — Alexander Britell
