Florida Supreme Court expands homestead breaks to non-residents

The Florida Supreme Court has unanimously ruled that foreigners and out-of-state residents are eligible for homestead exemption tax breaks, the Naples News reported via the Associated Press. The court ruled in favor of a Honduran couple living in a Key Biscayne condominium through a temporary visa – U.S. residents on temporary visas are not normally eligible for the tax break.
