The Brickell Avenue drawbridge has become stuck in its upright position causing massive delays across downtown Miami, the Florida Department of Transportation announced, according to the Miami Herald.
Officials say they did not know how long it will take to make emergency repairs, which are currently in progress, going on to indicate that it could be several days before the southbound lanes are able to reopen. The northbound lanes remained open, according to the Herald.
“Oh my God. It was awful,” Therese Gagné, a commuter, said. “Cars were cutting each other off. I was stuck for more than 15 minutes before I was able to loop around and head north on U.S. 1 and then get onto I-95 to avoid the mess. I’m never taking this bridge again.” [Miami Herald] —Christopher Cameron
