TRD nabs award for business journalism excellence

We’re pleased to announce that The Real Deal has won an award for general excellence from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers. The award comes as part of SABEW’s 18th Best in Business competition, which serves to honor excellence in business journalism. The category covers print magazines of any size.

A total of 134 winners were named in 68 categories, culled from 1,120 entries from some 195 news outlets. Other winners included the Huffington Post, the non-profit ProPublica and Bloomberg Markets, which shared the award with The Real Deal. More than 200 journalists and academics chose the winners.

“This year’s contest not only had the most entries ever, but they came from the largest and most diverse group of publications we’ve seen, from online startups to non-profit investigative journalism groups to newspapers to broadcast outlets,” said Jill Jorden Spitz, president of SABEW, in a statement.

In June, The Real Deal won five top awards recognizing the best in real estate journalism for our magazine, website and reporting from the National Association of Real Estate Editors.

And more recently, our publisher, Amir Korangy, was named one of the country’s most influential real estate leaders by Inman News. —TRD
