A former Disney executive has been tapped as CEO of All Aboard Florida, the private passenger rail service being developed by Florida East Coast Industries, the Palm Beach Post reported. Donald Robinson previously ran hotel operations for all of Disney’s Orlando resort complex and helped open the Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland parks, the paper said.
Robinson will buy trains and “develop operational functions for the project,” according to a statement received by the Post.
The new train line will run from Miami to Orlando, with stops in West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale.
The company has already begun buying up land and should have the trains online by 2015. [Palm Beach Post] –Guelda Voien
