New warehouse construction in Airport West

Miami-Dade’s massive business park Flagler Station is abuzz with the sounds of construction as companies prepare for the planned expansion of the Panama Canal, the city’s underground tunnel and the dredging of the Port of Miami.

Flagler, a 900-acre campus in the Miami district known as Airport West, is refitting its space to boost efficiency, said Miller Construction Senior Vice President Brian Sudduth.

The Miami-based construction company recently cleared a site at Flagler, at 10200 NW 110 Avenue in Miami, to start construction of Building 31, a 171,944-square-foot industrial warehouse for Flagler Development.

The new building will allow for optimal rack layout, with 54-foot column spacing for bays and ceilings that 30-foot-high vehicles can clear.

“We’re seeing an uptick in demand for industrial construction, especially with the Tunnel and the dredging of PortMiami in preparation for the Post-Panamax ships,” Sudduth said in a news release.

Major Flagler Station tenants Ryder System, LagasseSweet, Crowley and FedEx already operate large facilities.

Global air-freight provider Traffic Tech and Kaman Industrial Technologies, a publicly-traded industrial parts distributor, leased an accumulative 53,000 square feet at Flagler in April, as The Real Deal previously reported. –Emily Schmall
