A Miami board allowed the Worldcenter developers to close portions of the project site to vehicular traffic, but not without criticizing the lack of communication of the impact on surrounding residents and businesses.

In separate hearings, both the state’s Third District Court of Appeal and the City of Miami’s Planning, Zoning and Appeals Board agreed with complaints that the Worldcenter team is not sufficiently reaching out to those affected by the project, Daily Business Review reported. The 750,000-square-foot retail development is planned for 17 acres from Northeast Second Avenue and North Miami Avenue and from the Florida East Coast Railway tracks to Northeast 10th Street.

While approving a request to close down sections of Northeast Seventh, Eighth and Ninth streets to vehicular traffic, several city board members criticized the land-use attorneys representing the Worldcenter developers for “bad communication.” In the Third District Court of Appeal case, the Worldcenter team’s eviction of a tenant at the project site was overturned over a failure to adequately communicate with the tenant before initiating eviction proceedings.
