Boca Raton developer Greg Talbott died from a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound on Wednesday. He was 58.

Once one of the largest landowners in Palm Beach County, Talbott ran into major financial trouble after last decade’s real estate crash. The Boca Raton Police Department said Talbott was found by one of his employees after apparently shooting himself in the head on Wednesday morning. He was transported to the Delray Medical Center and pronounced dead on Thursday morning.

“The injury appeared to be the result of a suicide attempt,” Boca Police Department Public Information Officer Mark Economou said in a statement cited by Gossip Extra.

Talbott also owned a real estate brokerage. The developer lost more than a dozen properties in Broward and Palm Beach counties to foreclosure during the recession, including his own home. In March 2013, three of Talbott’s creditors filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in an attempt to recover about $3 million. [Gossip Extra]Eric Kalis
