Testa’s restaurant, a Palm Beach icon, will likely face a wrecking ball this time next year.

Yesterday, the Testa family received permission from the Architectural Commission to demolish the restaurant, gas station, Via Testa retail shops and other buildings on their 1.3-acre property along Royal Poinciana Way and Sunset Avenue, according to the Palm Beach Daily News.

Commissioners made a non-binding request of the owners that they complete demolition before November and that they avoid demolition during season.

“This is going to be a large black eye for residents,” vice chair Ann Vanneck said. “I would like it to be over as quickly as possible.”

The family has not yet released their eventual plans for the site. [PBDN]Christopher Cameron
