Ireland’s Inn developer scales back excavation
The developers of a planned hotel and condominium at the old Ireland’s Inn site in Fort Lauderdale have scaled back their plans for three-story underground parking garage.
Fairwinds on the Ocean has reduced the depth of the excavation to a single-level garage that will use a mechanized, valet-only system to stack 588 cars.
The sand from the digging will be given to the city for an upcoming beach renourishment project, according to the Sun Sentinel.
“It will save us a lot of time and a lot of money,” Fairwinds president Andy Mitchell said of the switch to a mechanized system. “It’s the same number of parking spots that we will need.” [Sun Sentinel] — Christopher Cameron
