Wellington council members could formally oppose the 3,800-acre Minto West development as proposed.

The Village Council is scheduled to vote Tuesday on a recommendation from planning officials urging Palm Beach County commissioners not to approve the 6,500-home project. The resolution warns Minto West could “permanently alter the rural lifestyles of the western communities.” Wellington planners note they would not fight the development if it conforms to 2008 approvals for nearly 3,000 homes and 235,000 square feet of commercial space.

Wellington would join Loxahatchee Groves and the Indian Trail Improvement District in adopting similar resolutions, according to the Palm Beach Post. Royal Palm Beach is expected to vote on its own measure next month. [Palm Beach Post]Eric Kalis
