A former condominium president and treasurer was arrested on Thursday for allegedly embezzling more than $22,500 in association funds to pay for a long distance affair.

Alan Kaplan, 82, was reported to the police by the members of The Norwich K Condominium Association after an audit of the association’s bank accounts. Kaplan was charged with grand theft. He was released from Palm Beach County Jail on Friday after posting $5,000 bail.

A Palm Beach Couty Sheriff’s officer discovered that Kaplan allegedly stole $22,580 from 2011 to 2013. Kaplan reportedly told police he needed the money to finance an affair with his lover in New York. [Palm Beach Post] — Claire Moses
