Wellington Village Council members are hesitant about buying the former executive golf course at the Wanderers Club without a better idea of future costs and potential uses. The council hopes to use the land as a park.

The council asked for a “best and final” offer by the end of November, saying the nearly $1.1 million proposed price was too high, according to the Palm Beach Post.

They also asked for more detailed projections about how much the 38-acre property, located at the corner of Greenbriar Boulevard and Aero Club Drive, would cost the village to maintain.

Staff last told the council that the land as-is would cost as much as $100,000 annually.

“There’s going to be a cost involved of getting it back to working as a passive park,” said Mayor Bob Margolis. “Yes, we need a park, but why not use a park we already have? … In my mind, I don’t see a use for it.” [Palm Beach Post] Christopher Cameron
