Five design teams have reportedly been announced as finalists to design the Underline — a landscaped, 10-mile long bikeway and park located south of downtown and underneath the Metrorail tracks.

The finalists include James Corner Field Operations, Dlandstudio and Balmori Associates, all from New York; Perkins & Will of Atlanta; and Stoss, from Boston. Submissions also included designs for projects at the Metrorail’s Brickell and University stations, Curbed Miami reported.

Friends of the Underline is the group behind the campaign to redevelop the M-Path into a linear park. Final presentations will take place on Feb. 2.

Three cities, along with the Knight Foundation, the Miami Foundation and others, will fund the $500,000 contract for the design. [Miami Curbed] — Kristina Puga
